Meeting Face to Face
Meeting Face to Face arose from the community activities surrounding the Engaging Muslims Project at Alaska Pacific University. People were seeking ways to engage in interfaith dialogue in smaller groups where conversation could flow more freely. Representatives from the Islamic Cultural Center of Anchorage volunteered to engage in dialogue with interested groups. These sessions were exceptionally well received and interest began to grow in the community.
Although the Engaging Muslims Project came to an end, Meeting Face to Face will continue as a program of the Interfaith Council of Anchorage. It has also expanded to include conversation with Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Unitarian and various Christian traditions. This program is an excellent representation of the Interfaith Council’s mission of responding to human need through cooperative effort, dialogue and education.
